The Story of the Last of the Mohicans
It is 1757 and the British and the French are fighting for the continent and each is making dangerous alliances with different
Indians tribes. A small group of British, led by Major Duncan Heyward is assigned the task of escorting Cora and Alice Munro
to the fort that is being commanded by their father.
Magua, a Mohawk, is sent to guide them through the hostile territory. However, problems begin when Magua leads the party
into an ambush- revealing him as a Huron who has sided with the French. His intentions are squandered when Cora, Alice, and
Major Duncan are saved by forest wanderers- Hawkeye, Chingachgook, and Uncas. Hawkeye develops an attraction to Cora, which
is the beginning of a love triangle that causes a lot of tension between Duncan, Cora, and Hawkeye.
When the fort that is their destination surrenders, Cora and Alice are also surrendered to the dangers of the territory
and the vengeful Magua. The party that once rescused them from Magua protects the two sisters as best they can, however towards
the end of the movie Alice is the victim of herself, stripping Magua of the satisfaction of killing her. Duncan gives up his
life in order for the girls and Hawkeye to live. Chingachgook also becomes the last of the Mohicans.
